The Sharon Gans Cult was founded in San Francisco in the 70’s by the late Alex Horn and his wife Sharon Gans. For decades it has been secretly operating in New York City and Boston. It is known by several different names which are listed in a side-column blurb (“Ganscult Aliases”). Gans and her second, Robert Klein, are dangerous con-artists who claim to be "spiritual teachers." This cult is alleged to have been involved in sexual abuse, child abuse, physical and emotional abuse, arranged marriages and adoptions, slave labor, bilking of members' money and life savings.

This blog provides information for current members and others. It also provides a forum through comments and submissions. The posts are organized in reverse chronological order and can be easily located through the table of contents on the side-column as well as searched through the search tool in the side-column.

Who Leaked?

Congratulations to the brave people who spoke on and off the record to the New York Post. It would not have been published with just one of us.

Kudos to Anabel Sosa, who believed in the story and worked for months on this. She and the NY Post have kept their word of protecting the anonymity of everyone who chose to speak off the record. Feel free to thank her yourself here or tell her your story. This story is just getting started and is not over.

  1. I emailed Anabel and thanked her for the article. I hope she writes more about the Fans cult and uncovers more info :)

  2. Hi, there. Good work (excellent, in fact). Have you, or does anyone have a photo of Fred Mindel?

I had a brief experience with the Horn-Gans theatre in SFCA in 1974, and attended a Horn theatre production sometime in the 1980s.

If, in this hoped-for photo, Fred might be smoking a cigar, that's our man. Hadn't heard anything about these characters for many years until I saw the NYP article.

"Gans? Sharon Gans? Wasn't she married to Alex Horn?" Yep. Also, the theatre in SFCA was "The Everyman Theatre."

Poor Robert Klein, the comedian. Surely people mixing his name into this by mistake is not funny to him.
